"Enriquez's Gift" by Mason

Enriquez's Gift
by Mason
Enriquez wakes up with the sun in his eyes and the heat on his eyelids. He gets up and glances at the calendar. “My birthday is tomorrow! Yes! Yes! he shouts.
The invitations were sent out a week ago and 10 of Enriquez’s best friend had called to say they were coming. He could hardly wait.
After school, Enriquez had a hockey game. As he walked up to the bench, he sees his team chatting about how good the other team was. As he got on the ice a red jersey flew across him. The puck flew on to his stick and he got the puck and fired it across the ice. Then it went to the red team. The red took it down the ice and weaved across the ice fired a shot in the net. Now the red team was winning 2 to 1! Then Enriquez’s head shot down. He had never felt worse.
“Enriquez!” how could you pass the puck to the other team?” his coach shouted.
“I don’t know, there were so many red players on me so I just shot the puck!” Enriquez said sadly.
After the game, he could not stop thinking about his stupid hockey stick. He sure hoped he got a new stick for his birthday.
Enriquez slowly got into his mom’s car.
“What’s wrong?” she said. Enriquez’s mom could always tell.
“Coach yelled at me.”
“At least it’s your birthday in two days!”
But Enriquez had no idea he was having a surprise birthday party. He didn’t know what was ahead!
They just pulled up in the driveway. The garage started to open. Enriquez saw feet under the garage door. He wondered why people would be in his garage. Once the whole garage door was open, he was still wondering if this was a surprise party. As his friends jumped up and shouted, “Surprise!” Enriquez ran out to the garage and his mouth dropped down. He had a big smile. He was already hoping that he was going to get his hockey stick!
Once they all got their presents and sat down right by the fireplace, his friends were saying, “Pick my present first!” He knew we was going to pick the present that was long, skinny and curved at the end, even though it wasn’t from any of his friends. He knew his family would be the ones to get him a hockey stick. So he starts ripping up the present then he sees a streak of sine then he tarts ripping it faster then it’s the stick. Enriquez goes crazy
“YES! YES! YES! THANK you so much!. Hey guys lets go in the backyard and play HOCKEY!”. So all the boys go in the back and play some hockey.
