Katie was sitting at her desk listening to the assignment of writing a short story about what you want to be when you grow up. She knew right away what she wanted to be…. an actress.
Finally the bell rang and Katie rushed home thinking about how she should write her paper. When she got home she started the paper right away and turned it in the next day.
“That was fast!” said her teacher Mrs. Hanson.
Katie was a pretty good student but in math she didn’t do too well. Her whole life she has wanted to be an actress and she wished that she could start.
Nine Years Later
High school was finally over and Katie was going to college. Katie has been looking for weeks for a good college where she could become an actress. But her parents will do anything they can to keep her from acting.
“Mom!” said Katie.
“Why can’t I go to a college for acting?”
“Honey, think if you followed up on the family business you could become a successful woman with lots of money!”
“I would also be if I became an actress and that would actually be fun!”
Finally, Katie thought. She got into a good college. Where she learned how to act in drama, comedy, sad, happy, and even horror movies! Katie was really proud of herself and even her teachers thought she was the best student.
Two Years Later
Katie graduated from college which she thought went very fast.
Her parents were still trying to get her to work the family business but Katie is doing the best she can to get a job in acting.
Finally Katie traveled to New York then to Hollywood, there, she heard of a man with an amazing script who is also a really good director but he can’t find the right actress for the main part.
Katie talks to a lot of people, searched the internet and finally found out where to find him.
Katie walked over to the front desk of a huge hotel.
“Can I talk to John Johnson?” Katie asked.
“Ha!” laughed the woman.
“Go away kid!” said the woman at the front desk.
“No I need to talk to John Johnson!”
“Do you really expect to talk to John Johnson?!”
“Yeah!” said Katie.
“Okay then I’ll call him up!” said the woman half sarcastically.
The whole hotel was filled with red carpeting and shiny plaques for each room number.
Katie knocked on the door.
“Who is it?” said John Johnson in a song voice.
“It’s Katie Hanson”
“What do you want?”
“Want to be the main actress in your movie!”
All of the sudden the door flung open and he yelled “Come in!”
Katie went in and he offered her tea.
“So, you have only acted in a play when you were little and you think you can be in my movie!?”
“Yeah” said Katie.
“Well you can leave I don’t approve!”
“But- John cut her off.
“You are wasting my time!” said John. But Katie had already started acting out one of the parts. John Johnson thought she was perfect for the part.
“Okay!” said John
“We’ll make the movie!”
Katie had a great time making the movie and before long Katie became a famous actress and lots of people wanted Katie Hanson in their movies.
Katie loved her job and she was making a lot of money but she felt like something was missing. She couldn’t think of anything that was wrong but in the inside she just had a feeling that something wasn’t right.
Katie decided to go visit her parents after all she hadn’t seen them in a couple years.
Katie rang the doorbell of her parents’ huge house and the door swung open.
“Katie!” exclaimed her parents.
“Hi!” exclaimed Katie.
“I missed you so much!” said everyone at the same time.
“How’s work?” asked Katie’s mom.
“Great!”
“I’ve been in lots of movies!”
“Yeah we saw some of those!”
“We are really happy for you Katie!”
Katie thought that maybe what was missing was just her parents approval.
