The Big Hit

It was the bottom of the sixth inning, The Oakland All-Stars where down by ten with there best player Miguel Hernadez, the center fielder up to bat. There where two outs and the bases loaded. Miguel dusted off home plate got in his batting stance and waited for the pitch. He had already hit a homerun in the game.
Then the pitch came it was right down the middle and after Miguel hit it he new right a way it was a homerun. They where only down by six now. But there where two outs. Nomar Miguel’s best friend was up to bat. The first pitch was a ball and the next pitch was low but he swung and hit a little grounder to the shortstop and was out. The game was over. After the game Nomar came over to Miguel’s apartment to play MLB 09 The Show.
Miguel has dreadlocks and is from Puerto Rico. Nomar is from the Dominican Republic and has a buzz cut.
As they where playing on the PS3 Nomar said “you now we have to win are last two games to make the playoffs”
Miguel replied “I know, I think we can do it. We almost won today.”
Then they just went back to playing the game. Nomar ended up winning the game 7-6 because he hit a walk off homerun with David Kolumbo. After they turned off the PS3 Nomar asked “can you have a sleep over tonight, you could bring over your baseball stuff since we have a game tomorrow”
Then Miguel went and asked his dad if he could and he said it was fine. Then Miguel got his baseball stuff and same with Nomar. Then they left for Nomar’s apartment Nomar then exclaimed “we have tickets for the A’s vs. Yankees game to night you want to go”
Then Miguel exclaimed “sweet yah!” Then they kept on walking until they got to Nomar’s apartment. Nomar’s apartment was nothing like Miguel’s it was way nicer but he was used to it because he has been there so many times. As soon as they put there stuff inside they went out and started playing catch in Nomar’s yard they played until. Mrs.Gomez Nomar’s mom said “its time to go to the game”
They both said “O.K.” they kept there mitts on because the Gomez seats where so close to the field they caught foul balls all the time. Then they got in the car and drove to the stadium
At the game Miguel and Nomar both wolfed down two hot dogs each and then put there full attention on the game. In the first inning the first two batters struck out then Paul Fooler came up to bat the first pitch he swung at and hit it foul right to where Miguel was sitting he stood up and the next thing he knew he was looking at the ball in his glove
After the game Miguel was happy for two reasons 1 Because he caught a foul ball and 2 because the A’s won the game. It was getting late as they drove home because the game went into extra innings. As soon as they got home both boys went straight to the TV. They turned the channel to ESPN and Sports Center was on and Nomar hit the record button and the Top 10 Plays came on. The number one play was Miguel’s catch he couldn’t believe it. Then he said “ good thing you recorded it”
Then Nomar replied “I got skills” Then they both laughed about that. They kept on watching Sports Center until they fell asleep on the couch and chair.
Then they arose with the sun in there eyes and the smell of pancakes and waffles. When they went into the kitchen they noticed it was 10:31
Then they quickly started eating after they where down. They started putting on their baseball stuff. As soon as they had the stuff on Mr.Gomez drove them to the field when they stepped out of the car Mr.Gomez said “play well I will be here when the game starts.
They then both said back “O.K” and they both jogged onto the field. Batting practice and infield both flew by. Then the game was a bout to start.
In the bottom of the sixth the game was still tied, but the All-Stars have the bases juiced with Miguel up to bat. He did he’s batting routine. Then the pitch came it was right down the middle after he hit it he imagined a PA announcer saying “he hit it well its carrying its gone homerun.” The All-Stars still had playoff hopes. As he rounded the bases he saw his team at home plate waiting for him once he stepped on home plate his team started giving him high fives and patting him on the back. Once the celebration was over their coach said “you guys played really well.”
Then they all headed off to their parents Miguel’s dad loved baseball he never made it to the majors but he made it to triple A. When Miguel got to his dad he said “lets go get that ball”
Then he said “lets” they went and got the ball. When they got it they could see the mark from where he hit it. It looked like somebody had put eye black on it. After the went home Miguel took a shower and went to bed because he had another game tomorrow.
When he woke up he remembered that his dad would have to drive his taxi. So he went into the kitchen and made himself a bowl of cereal. He turned on the TV in the kitchen and turned the channel to ESPN Sports Center was on and again the Top 10 plays came on. The number one play was his homerun Stew Cotton then said “this is the same kid who was on the number one play yesterday.”
Miguel couldn’t believe it. He then hit the record button so his dad could see his play. He kept on watching Sport Center until his dad got home.
His dad got home a couple hours after his highlight. As soon as his dad got home he said “your brother Nacho is coming to your game to day”
Miguel wasn’t fond of the idea because Nacho is on the single A team for the Dodgers and he knew that he would be watching his every move. So trying to act happy he said “cool”
His dad then said “now go get your stuff on” he went to go put on his stuff worried. After he had it all on his dad took him to the game.
Once he got there his team started BP and infield practice. After that the All-Stars took the field first since the where the home team. In the Third inning a ball was hit to Miguel and deep. He started to go back the ball still flying his hat blew off he could feel his dreadlocks on his back now. He got to the wall leaped up reached his glove over the fence and caught it. The game remained tied.
It was the sixth bottom the game still tied with two outs bases loaded. Miguel was up to bat. He was just hoping to make contact in front of his brother. The pitch came it wasn’t the best pitch in the world but he swung he hit it in to center field it dropped and the winning run came across to win the game. He knew that both his dad an Nacho where proud of him. There where going to the playoffs. Everybody on his team went to go tackle him at first base. After everybody was off him he went up to Nacho and said “good hit huh”
He replied “way that was a good hit bro.” Then they went back to there apartment to see if he made The 10 Plays on Sports Center again.

T-I liked how you used a lot of diolog in your writing and how it made it seem so real.

G- when you get that home run at the end of the game you should have done somthing like Nacho was covred with fans so he could not see you.

Great story. You must like baseball and you have great descriptions of your players. I became connected with them and where they lived.

Fantastic story. You had me on the edge of my chair while I was reading your story. You certainly bring the reader into what's going on in the field. Your descriptions of what's happening makes you happy for the outcome of the story. Looking forward to your next baseball story. Hope you have some about Football this coming Fall.
